FESTIVAL OF ARTS

War, spirituality, courage, downfalls and rebirths, defeats and conquests (including those from space): these are the guiding themes of the first edition of the Festival of the Arts, which will take place in Quartu this July and aims to recount humanity's attempt to create and govern progress through historical, sociological, and technical perspectives.

The festival focuses on various artistic genres, beginning with photography, with an exhibition already open in the cloister of the former Capuchin Convent on Via Brigata Sassari until July 30th. The exhibition focuses on several particularly significant images from cult films, films that have made cinematic history or that have a special connection to Sardinia.

The Festival's highlight will be dedicated to cinema and music, which will feature an exciting two-evening journey at the La Marinella venue on Quartu's Poetto seafront. Admission to both events is free. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Quartu Sant'Elena, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Sardinia Foundation, ERSU Cagliari, the Setterane aps Cultural Association, the Grendi 1828 Group, and La Marinella, is carried out under the artistic, organizational, and historical-critical direction of Alessio Ninu.

The first evening is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:30 PM. Beniamino Zuncheddu will be the guest, giving a firsthand account of his incredible story. On Friday, July 25, 2025, also at 10:30 PM, actor and voice actor Massimo Corvo will be the guest.

Both events will be followed by a concert by the Festival's Permanent Orchestra, performing soundtracks from the epic-historical genre. This is a selection of captivating music written for masterpieces of the big screen, such as Schindler's List, Life Is Beautiful, Apocalypse Now, Pearl Harbor, The Passion of the Christ, Gladiator, Ben-Hur, Braveheart, The Mission, Rocky, and Titanic.
