Capitana
The beach of Capitana
is located in the municipal area of Quartu Sant'Elena along the coast of southern Sardinia, about 20 km from the Sardinian capital in an easterly direction towards Villasimius.
The beach is very narrow, with an average width of about 1-2 meters, due to the incessant erosion by the sea. It is white with fine grains with the presence of some rocks at its ends.
The water is crystal clear, especially in the early hours of the day and in the presence of the mistral, with a sandy bottom.
It is blue in color and not very deep. They are about 2 km of coastline divided into two inlets. To the west it borders with the marina, while to the east with the locality of Is Mortorius.
It owes its name to an ancient legend that saw her as the protagonist of a love story between a Saracen pirate and his Sardinian slave, called "La Capitana".
