Foxi Tower

The Foxi coastal tower

was built by the Spaniards according to Michele de Moncada in 1578.

The purpose was the one with the other located in the gulf for control and defense from barbarian landings, the tower of the "torrezillas" type, that is for sighting and light defense, with two garrison soldiers intercommunicated with signals to the west with the carcangiolas tower and to the east with the S. Andrea tower.

The tower remains in fair condition today.Located at 2 meters above sea level. with the classic truncated cone structure consisting of three levels, low level with water tank and warehouse, medium level with a domed vaulted room for military accommodation, and a terrace for control and armament activities.

Access from the outside was elevated and used with a wooden or rope escalator.

Works of rehabilitation and beautification of the area with a small square and urban greenery enhance its presence.
